Thomas Arthur Schaefer is an Atlanta-based multimedia artist, curator, and creative director whose interdisciplinary practice fuses fine art, design, technology, and cultural storytelling. Working across sculpture, installation, painting, photography, performance, digital fabrication, and mixed media, Schaefer creates layered works that explore ritual, consumer culture, memory, occult symbolism, and the visual tension between order and disorder.

His practice blends traditional studio techniques with contemporary technologies including CNC fabrication, archival processes, sculptural casting, and digital modeling, producing works that move fluidly between handcrafted artifact and conceptual installation. Influenced by Process Art, Arte Povera, Pop, and postmodern image culture, Schaefer’s work often transforms everyday materials and cultural objects into emotionally charged systems of meaning and reflection.

As founder, curator, and principal of The Artifice, Schaefer has spent more than a decade helping shape Atlanta’s independent contemporary art landscape through artist-led exhibitions, experimental programming, film events, public installations, and collaborative cultural projects. Through The Artifice, he has curated dozens of exhibitions featuring hundreds of artists while fostering accessible and community-driven platforms for emerging, underground, and established creatives alike.

Alongside his studio and curatorial work, Schaefer serves as a Principal Creative Director at State Farm and as a board member of the Hapeville Main Street Arts Board, bridging creative leadership, civic engagement, and contemporary art practice throughout the Atlanta region.
