Vivid Lucidity III - Guidelines
This exhibition brings together a select group of artists working from a shared structural foundation: the wooden paint palette and the arm that wields it. Each installation will consist of:
-
A primary palette artwork
-
A working palette used in process
-
A cast of your dominant arm
Together, these form a unified vertical composition across the gallery.
1. Palette Artwork Requirements
Each artist receives three wooden palettes (12" W × 8" H).
Palette Usage
Primary Palette
Your resolved artwork. This will be wall-mounted as the main visual component.
Working Palette
Used in your active process (paint, ink, collage, mixed media, etc.). This will be displayed beneath the primary artwork and should show authentic evidence of labor.
Third Palette (Optional)
May be used as a backup or as an additional artwork available for sale. It will not be part of the installed vertical trio.
Orientation & Composition
-
Palettes must remain horizontal.
-
You may orient the finger hole on either the right or left.
-
Consider how the palette would naturally be held in your non-dominant hand while working.
-
Sculptural additions are permitted but must remain stable and secure for wall mounting.
-
The palette’s proportions should remain intact. Modest expansion is acceptable only where conceptually necessary and structurally sound.
Gallery Curator will prep works must arrive ready to hang.
2. Arm Casting Sessions (Required)
Each participating artist will schedule a casting session for their dominant arm. The resulting plaster cast will be displayed beneath your palettes as part of the installation.
Please message curator directly to coordinate a time ASAP.
