Nicole Merizalde, known professionally as Zalde or ZaldePaints, is an Atlanta-based muralist and illustrator whose work merges classical portraiture, graffiti aesthetics, and surreal color-driven environments into a style she describes as “graffitirealism.” Drawing from her Colombian and Greek heritage, Merizalde creates large-scale public works that blend mythology, realism, and contemporary street art through bold visual storytelling.

Working primarily with spray paint, her murals frequently feature sculptural human figures surrounded by vivid abstract forms, dreamlike color palettes, and symbolic references to Colombian flora, fauna, and Greek mythology. Her work balances classical influence with contemporary urban energy, transforming public spaces into immersive visual experiences rooted in identity, heritage, and accessibility.

After transitioning from a background in graphic design and marketing into full-time mural practice, Merizalde became an active contributor to Atlanta’s public art landscape through projects connected to Forward Warrior, Underground Atlanta, Cabbagetown, and regional mural festivals throughout the Southeast. Through both public art and gallery exhibitions, she continues to create work that bridges realism, mythology, and contemporary street culture.
