Nick “Turbo” Benson is an Atlanta-based muralist, illustrator, and designer known for his bold retro-futuristic imagery, maximalist compositions, and imaginative visual worlds filled with dinosaurs, birds, monsters, banjo-playing frogs, and pop-culture-inspired creatures. Drawing influence from mid-century science fiction illustration, comic books, vintage pulp art, and animation, Benson creates highly energetic works that blend nostalgia, fantasy, and contemporary street aesthetics.

Working across large-scale murals, illustration, digital design, painting, and commercial collaborations, Benson describes his visual approach as “escapist baroque”—a layered and theatrical style that transforms public spaces into portals of humor, wonder, and surreal storytelling. His work frequently explores the intersection of humanity, nature, mythology, and absurdity through vibrant palettes and densely detailed compositions.

A graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, Benson has contributed extensively to Atlanta’s public art landscape through projects connected to the Atlanta BeltLine, OuterSpace Project, and Forward Warrior. Alongside independent and gallery-based work, he has collaborated with organizations and brands including MARTA, the NBA, Topo Chico, and Run the Jewels, continuing to create immersive visual experiences that bring playfulness and spectacle into everyday environments.
