Jay Hill
Atlanta, GA
Jay Hill, known professionally as Manic Lawd, is an Atlanta-based lowbrow and pop surrealist artist whose work fuses dark humor, nostalgia, folklore, gaming culture, and underground fantasy aesthetics into a vibrant and highly recognizable visual language. Working across painting, digital art, airbrush, spray paint, and designer toys, Hill creates immersive worlds populated by skulls, monsters, cryptids, and surreal pop-culture reinterpretations.
A self-taught artist deeply rooted in Atlanta’s independent art scene, Hill frequently uses skull imagery as a recurring symbolic framework—blending macabre themes with playful color, absurdity, and references to retro gaming, horror, and contemporary Southern culture. His work balances eerie visual storytelling with humor and accessibility, creating pieces that feel equally unsettling and celebratory.
Beyond traditional media, Hill is actively involved in the designer toy and sofubi community, producing custom vinyl figures and collaborative sculptural works through partnerships with independent toy labels and artists. Through exhibitions, live art events, festivals, and community-focused projects such as “Toy Therapy,” he continues to contribute to Atlanta’s evolving underground art ecosystem through mentorship, experimentation, and multidisciplinary creative practice.
