Leigh Ann Culver is an Atlanta-based mixed media and charcoal artist whose work explores the cultural history of the American South through emotionally charged portraiture, historical storytelling, and large-scale public art. Known for her hyper-realistic charcoal drawings and layered mixed-media compositions, Culver creates works that give visibility to overlooked figures, marginalized narratives, and the complexities of memory, identity, and regional history.

Her practice frequently draws from archival photography, Southern history, and contemporary social themes, blending meticulous draftsmanship with experimental materials including acrylic, glitter, collage, and textured surfaces. Through these layered visual approaches, Culver examines the tension between beauty and hardship, nostalgia and reality, public memory and personal experience.

Alongside gallery exhibitions and studio work, Culver has completed significant public art projects throughout Georgia, including murals and historical installations that reinterpret Southern narratives through compassionate and human-centered perspectives. Through both intimate portraiture and large-scale community works, she continues to create art that bridges historical reflection with contemporary cultural dialogue.
