Originally from Kennesaw, Georgia, Blackmon developed an early interest in the arts through music, dance, and performance before discovering photography as her primary creative medium. She later graduated from the Portfolio Center in 2003 and began her professional career through an internship at Turner Studios, assisting productions connected to CNN, the Atlanta Braves, and commercial location shoots throughout Atlanta.
