Kat Ash
Atlanta, GA
Kat Ash, also known as Kat Whaley, is an Atlanta-based artist, muralist, illustrator, and designer whose work merges editorial illustration, branding, fine art, and environmental storytelling through richly textured and emotionally driven imagery. Drawing from psychology, music, nature, pop culture, and personal experience, Ash creates immersive visual narratives centered on mood, movement, light, and emotional resonance.
Ash earned an MFA in Illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design, where she further developed a practice rooted in conceptual storytelling and tactile image-making. Her background in textile design and fiber arts continues to shape her visual language, blending traditional materials and handmade textures with digital techniques to create layered compositions that feel both intimate and contemporary.
Working across murals, branding, editorial commissions, and private projects, Ash has contributed creative direction and illustration for businesses and community-focused initiatives throughout Georgia, including her ongoing work as an in-house artist for Cultivation Brewing Co. Influenced by the Appalachian landscape, dance, motherhood, and emotional storytelling, her work balances structure with softness, creating visual experiences that feel thoughtful, atmospheric, and deeply human.
