Kandus Johnson
Atlanta, GA
Kandus Johnson is an Atlanta-born mixed media artist whose vibrant, whimsical work blends cartoon-inspired imagery, surreal humor, woodworking, illustration, and resin-based sculpture into joyful explorations of imagination and human connection. Working across pen-and-ink illustration, layered wood pieces, stickers, magnets, and sculptural mixed media, Johnson creates colorful character-driven worlds filled with playful creatures, expressive forms, and offbeat visual narratives.
Influenced by nature, animation, humor, and Atlanta’s creative community, Johnson’s work emphasizes positivity, curiosity, and emotional accessibility. Her practice frequently combines handcrafted woodworking techniques with glossy resin finishes and intricate ink work, creating tactile pieces that balance vibrant energy with meticulous detail.
A graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta, Johnson is also the co-founder of Sudnat Studios, an Atlanta-based creative initiative focused on supporting artists through pop-up markets, workshops, and community-centered events. Through both her artwork and collaborative programming, she continues to foster spaces centered on creativity, inclusivity, and shared joy within Atlanta’s independent arts scene.
