Jaroslav Kanka is an Atlanta-based photographer and the owner of JK Photography, a boutique commercial and editorial photography practice operating within the city’s creative and cultural landscape. Working across portraiture, brand imagery, documentary photography, and fine art exhibitions, Kanka combines polished technical precision with an intimate and human-centered photographic approach.

Alongside his commercial work for major corporate clients and Fortune 500 brands, Kanka has maintained a longstanding connection to Georgia’s folk and outsider art communities. He is particularly recognized for his deep personal relationship with visionary folk artist R. A. Miller, whose work and legacy Kanka documented extensively through photography and collecting. His photographs of Miller—created through years of friendship and close access to the artist and his family—capture a rare and personal perspective on one of the South’s most influential self-taught artists.

Kanka’s collection and documentary photographs played a central role in Lord Love You — R.A. Miller at The Artifice
in 2023, helping shape an exhibition that celebrated Miller’s life, environment, and artistic legacy through both artwork and archival imagery. Through projects like these, Kanka’s practice extends beyond photography into cultural preservation, regional storytelling, and the documentation of Southern creative history.
